I heard an interview this morning on the radio regarding this. I'm not sure who it was, but he said they were looking for 100 individuals to each put up $5K. He actually said they could be successful because of their location and because there's not another golf course within 5 miles.

Advocate article
I'd be very interested in knowing who these golf experts are.
quote:
Nguyen said he spoke to some golf experts who told him it would take about $300,000 to get the course back into playing shape, mainly by fixing the irrigation system. Another $200,000 would be needed to cover operating expenses.
I'd be very interested in knowing who these golf experts are.

The advocate article describes everything that is wrong with municipal golf in this city.
McKnight is clearly on the right track....close Howell at the very least. Yet one guy says be sensitive to the needs of the black golfer. So keep an entire course open and bleed money for a handful of people? Ugh.
Then you read the comments and you've got morons suggesting closing the profitable courses.
