An odd piece (like much of Chang's writing)....he cares enough about ramen to obsess, but now it's become too easy for others to gather knowledge about the stuff, so it's "over"? He isn't an evangelist recruiting others to the church of ramen, he sounds more like a diva who now resents the audience he worked to create.

But I liked the Momofuku cookbook, and one day I'll get off my azz and concoct a LA version of his XO sauce (it uses dried scallops & yunnan ham, and I think an all-dried-shrimp and andouille version would kill).

I like the guy but this is how it came off to me as well.

He killed it?

I LOVE David Chang, but I was thinking the same thing. One could even argue that he played a huge role in kickstarting this "ramen trend".

I agree, but there is something to what he's saying. I think he delivered the message wrong, after a second reading. I was laughing too much the first time.

Chang comes off as a ramen hipster, as much as I hate to use that term. He was in on the ground floor of the most recent ramen popularity wave, and now that it's big and prevalent, he hates on the generic stuff.
