Is there a negative with higher speed rated tires?

Looking at a set of tires, Michelin P/S3, and the local place can only get them in 94W speed rating in the size I want. I know the car I'm putting them on won't go as fast as the tire is rated for (168 mph), but are there downsides to having more speed rating then needed?

Cost?
Think they may do worse in icy weather, but that may be way off base.

Maybe the negative of looking bit off having 168mph rated tires on an 88 Toyota tercel.

They probably wear out amd need replacement faster.

Cost and the tires will wear faster than lower speed rated tires.

What size tires, and what are they replacing.
The p/s 3 has a treadwear rating of 320 which is pretty good, not great. More of a performance tire and a summer tread. The Michelin all season equivalent has better treadwear and there are other brands to consider.
The Continental DWS for one, only drawback is tread noise when they wear.
I would suggest going to Tire Rack, Treadepot and discount tire direct for research and pricing.

All I can offer is that I had "V" speed rated (144 mph) Michelins as the original tires on my Volvo. It topped out (or, more likely, was limited) at ~115mph. I don't recall the tread wear rating, but I'm certain that I got over 50,000 miles out of the originals. (It was a front wheel drive, non-turbo, 5 cylinder, so there weren't ANY smoking tires involved!)
