I don't know if that's as true for my generation (in the US at least) as it used to be...unless of course they grew up in a place like Houston or Los Angeles where there is a broad range of opportunity within a 60 mile radius.

I've lived in Baton Rouge, Oxford, and Nashville so far.

Not counting summer school stints for a couple months in both France and Austria.

And I'm not close to done moving. So I agree with you.

My next stop is hopefully the Pacific Northwest or more inland like Denver.

You shouldn't go to college in your hometown . Australia seems cooler , even Japan at this point

In the deep south, you're talkin to brick walls. Folks just dont understand how much more intelligent one becomes from being abroad. And that there is life and existentsnce away from "home". Im talking to you class of 1999!

Moved around a fair amount as a kid/adult:

New Orleans
Houma
Morgan City
Lafayette
Houston
Baton Rouge
Dallas
Overland Park, Kansas
Atlanta

Don't get the hate for Houston or the ATL. Houston is a little more industrial, but was a fun place to live. Regarding the ATL, if you live north of town and up in the foothills (Forsyth County and north) it is all good.

Cities which got bigger just for the sake of getting bigger, Houston and Atlanta the foremost examples, are bloated, overdense and undercultured commercial zones.
