It all depends on the type of 3-4 you want to run. If you are thinking about the two-gap 3-4, then I would disagree. Too many perfect fits are required to run this system effectively, namely a huge wardaddy in the middle (nose tackle) and two really good inside LBs.

Those LSU players mentioned play in 3-4s, but more one-gap attacking systems vs the two gap control systems.

That is why I like CP so much as a DC. He is a fan of the 3-4 under/4-3 under attacking defense. I think he could have done well here at LSU.
