Good post. The internet & social media does perpetuate a lot of false info that makes the emotions of the fan base rise and fall. Further, it makes the fans feel more connected to the program... almost as if we're junior members in the board room helping to make this decision... we're all insiders now.
This is way different than it used to be even ten years ago. In the past, the majority of the fan base might see a snippet of a post in the paper about the search and that's it. No flight tracker, no news large media outlets would so quickly post breaking news that the PSU DC signed an extension to stay, perhaps within hours of interviewing with Les.
Further, it still has not been much longer than one week since the search began. This is not a long time frame. And some of Les' previous coaching hires have taken quite a bit longer. I remember one where he dragged it out till after National Signing Day (allegedly to take advantage of being able to visit more recruits since he was down one coach, but it was a long duration regardless). Social media-- and being privy to so many snippets of true and false info about the process-- makes us increasingly impatient, so that this week has felt like a month.

Odd how the internet age has affected everything in life, including making LSU fans even more unbearable.
