Does anyone have firsthand knowledge of how Shoop is perceived by recruits?

vs. Chavis?
I would expect it would be as well or better. But, LSU does have a history of putting players in the NFL while Chavis was DC.

quote:The players have the ability based on talent to put themselves in the NFL...No firsthand knowledge, but Shoop has had to fight at a lower tier SEC school for recruits. I'm sure he would do well with LSU on his jacket.
But, LSU does have a history of putting players in the NFL while Chavis was DC.

Chavis puts players in the NFL because when they get to LSU they are already NFL type talent. We recruit a ton of players that will get to the NFL because they are that type of talent. There would be no drop of in my opinion of defensive players getting drafted. Chavis did not directly coach and develop Peterson, Claiborn, Reid, Mingo etc. He coached the linebackers probably the position with the least number of NFL type recruits given the size of linebackers he wants in his defense.

I agree, that is why I put like this:
LSU does have a history of putting players in the NFL while Chavis was DC.
and not Chavis has a history of putting.....
Do the recruits realize this, is my question.

OK bro
Let's not downplay Chavis here.
LSU paid him $1.3 mil and his current employer is paying him $1.7 mil.
so I'm just going to assume he is regarded pretty highly.
Can this work out for LSU? Sure.
But you sound like a bitter ex
