Funny that Durant says that. You aren't going to hear Westbrook share that same sentiment.

"Wait, you're telling me there's another guy that really likes to shoot once I pass him the ball? I don't think so."

On the entire trade itself, I think both the Thunder and Cavs win here. For the Thunder, you get a young scorer for practically nothing, and while he'll come off the bench at first, he can be a good offensive insurance WHEN Westbrook or Durant go down again.

For the Cavs, they weren't keeping Waiters and everyone knew it. Whether he's a shot chucker or not, to get a 6th Man of the Year on a team with championship aspirations, that's always key. Maybe getting away from that triangle will be beneficial to him. In Shumpert, they get the defensive guard that they wanted when they were pursuing Corey Brewer. Not saying they are the same at all, but they got the type of player they were seeking.

If the Cavs can pick up Dalembert when the Knicks cut him too, this may wind up being a solid outcome for them in the end

young scorer

In Waiters? That's a stretch...by that definition anyone who gets the opportunity to shoot fifteen times is a scorer, because he doesn't do it very well.

OKC is banking on Waiters being checked-out in Cleveland and having a strong enough organization to tap into his potential. If he simply gives them what he gave Cleveland this trade doesn't help them at all.
