I think you hit it. There aren't any elite teams this year. It's been a down/rebuilding year for basically most traditional powerhouses - Bama, LSU, Florida, USC, Stanford(from at least the last half decade), etc. There's not that one dominant team because most of them are young/inexperienced and Oregon is finally taking advantage of that. I don't think this 2014 Oregon team beats 2013 FSU, 2012 Bama, 2011 Bama or 2011 LSU so on and so on.

This biggest difference to this team vs the ones that got beat by Auburn and LSU is that now their lines are SIGNIFICANTLY larger and more talented. Whereas those teams were a bunch of 2 and 3 star recruits overachieving this team is a bunch of 4 star guys who could play at any SEC program. Add that to the conditioning program they have and great coaching and this is a total different animal.

I also don't understand how people can say they don't know how to close out teams in close games. What exactly can you base that on? Looks like they closed out close games in WSU and Michigan State just this year. If you're gonna use teams from 3-4 years in the past to make a judgement about this year's Oregon team, you're an idiot and lack the ability to objectively watch football
