Chavis and the clause

He was upset more about the "outgoing head coach Clause" than the money ..... Correct?
If so, was he foreshadowing that he sees the writing on the wall for miles and he didn't want to be standing after the music stops?

More like he wanted and felt like he deserves a retirement plan in his contract

Because Chavis would be undesirable if Miles is fired?
It was about the money

Seems like it would go for any HC, not just Miles. He wanted guaranteed money if the coach was gone. He asked for the same at A&M...and got it. If Sumlin leaves, or gets fired, he still gets paid.

The most simple explanation may be that Miles is looking to retire. Rumors have floated around here about him walking away after 2016 or 2017. That would explain why Chavis would want a FOUR year commitment. And when you look at what has happened to USCe's recruiting since Spurrier made his comment about retirement in a couple of years, there is no mystery in why the athletic dept would want to keep such a thing under tight wraps.

Makes sense. I know upset at how he was treated towards the end at Tn - I thought both parties (LSU and chavis) enjoyed the relationship - but I guess not.

Maybe he has spent his money unwisely and NEEDS a guarantee to have retirement $$$.
