Also this morning, Ponamsky has a football insider on the show, and that guy said that Chavis and Sumlin spoke yesterday.
i'm sure they did...his defense sucks and he is desparate
oh, and sumlin doesn't sign the checks...if chavis was talking with upper management then we should be concerned. annnndddd, talk to his agent cause the dude is still under contract

Just FYI, the 1-year extension to Chavis' contract was only executed by LSU and does not extend his $1M buy-out. It only extends the school's intent to honor the terms. That's why the new contract is already being pushed. Otherwise, they would handle it in the offseason.
That being said, I'm sure he is just angling for more $$.

Multiple LSU sources have told me that the Chavis rumors are true. The CHIEF is 50/50 on staying or leaving for A&M! Miles was going to leave for the Michigan job if offered but he knew that Harbaugh was their big fish so he never went public. Chavis assumed he would be the heir apparent but Miles & Alleva had decided if he did leave that Cam would be the HC w/ Chavis remaining at DC and Wilson moving up to OC. This ticked Chavis off and he is now using the whole A&M offer to garner more respect and cash from LSU. He feels like he has been loyal and that he has not been respected enough from Alleva.
Hate me all you want..just letting the forum know what I have been told.

John Chavis has publicly stated that he never wants to be a HC....never.
link? when I've seen him speak about it, he's said it'd have to be the right gig. he's not just jumping at anything.

Give him 1.8 and let's be done with it.

Being in media (one never reveals his/her sources) but I will quench some thirst on my sources. They are in the day to day operations within the football program. And usually you can see them on tv during games

Sweet source. That could be anyone from Miles himself all the way down to the freshman holding the water bottles.

Ugo amadi commits to lsu.... Lead recruiter John Chavis..... Nothing to see here

If the battle came down between aTm and LSU for where he committed to, you would be correct.
Don't think it is as big a deal as you think.

So you think the kid committed to Chavis knowing he was leaving.

Chavis gonna call the kid up and say "hey im leaving, frick off from LSU" ?

I like to believe that because it is a new contract he wants time to sit down and understand the new language in it, and he hasn't done that because of his commitment to preparing the team for this game. After today he and his lawyers will evaluate it and sign off later this week.

Also hasn't it been dead period. Not familiar with all the restrictions

No but if I'm committing to a school, I'm gonna make sure the DC is gonna be there and my head recruiter isn't leaving for a rival school
Also it's a dead period but I'm pretty sure that just means that the recruits have to initiate contact.

During a dead period a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents, and may not watch student-athletes compete or visit their high schools. Coaches may write and telephone student-athletes or their parents during a dead period.

If Chavis feels that way, then I say good riddance pal....He isn't the character guy we thought he might be.
The game has changed now at different levels. HC's are now making 8 mil per year. Coordinators will be averaging about 2 mil per year soon. He needs to be paid as much as Muschamp. Blame Auburn, but Chavis is still a better DC, IMO.
