Hint: Texas is a shitty job. Shitty conference. VERY limited exposure. LHN. Insanely unreasonable expectations. At the time, senile old arrogant arse AD who ran off all big fan bases to other conferences.
Not a good job at all. Still isn't and won't be until they drop the LHN and join a real conference.

Texas is top 3 if not no1 job in college football.
Texas is not even in the top 5 of college jobs to the men that matter; coaches. Every time that job has come open in recent memory, they haven't even come close to hiring the best coach out there at the time. Young people like to think Austin is the best at everything, including stops for coaches, but that isn't reality. A coach like Meyer or Saban does not give two shits where their families live or what goes on down on sixth street. Those guys work 15 hour days or more year round and, to them, Austin is no better a place than Columbus or Tuscaloosa. There's a reason top coaches never take this job.

Plain and simple Mack Brown would not simply role over...he drug it out and Saban was not going to go thru another long media ordeal....Mack cost them their man.
This x 100. The UT Boosters allowed that process to become a dumpster fire.

Add to that Vance Bedford, a former Texas player who is the Longhorn defensive coordinator (and who just lost out on the Colorado St. head coaching job).
Another: Jerry Gray, also a former Longhorn player who is an NFL assistant.
