Let me add my input to this thread:

1. I'll admit I have a problem with Kyle's book.

Ain't no reason whatsoever to exaggerate what you did just because it makes for a better story or whatever. The guys who did real shite can simply write down the facts, and the story is just awesome by itself. If Kyle had done that (and his real, confirmed story is jaw-dropping), he'd face less heat.

Guys who claim they were former SF or B4 or whatever get (properly) called out, and even though Kyle did some great stuff, he is not immune to criticism.

There are probably a dozen or more SF or MARSOC or whatever guys with just as crazy stories whose books didn't get written because they grieve in private. You sure as hell don't see CAG doing stuff like this. I don't know what it is about the SEALs but they do love themselves some publicity.

2. He sure as hell wasn't a sociopath. Whoever said that is an idiot. Real sociopaths can't have relationships like he had.

3. Luttrell's team was brave as hell. They made a half-dozen major tactical mistakes that a boot arse lieutenant shouldn't make, but that doesn't take away from their story. I think he genuinely doesn't like the attention, but he does what he does for the sake of others.

4. I'll be interested to see how they portray these areas. I was in quite a few of them and am intimately familiar with the terrain and demographics, and I can't wait to see how they do this. Nothing so far has even been really close to what it's like. I'll get a bit of a smile if they have trash piled 3 feet high on the side of the roads.
