The expectations were to improve from a 20-30 win team, to a playoff team in this conference. They've put themselves in position to do that.
Which is what he says. He also says there were other ways to achieve a .500 record without capping themselves out for years or being thin and unbalanced.. Which is true.
And he's right about the Evans/Lopez swap being questionable. They sent out a very good rim protector (anchors a league average and top 5 defense last year and this year) because he couldn't hard hedge. Spent a year in the wilderness at C, then sent out a 1st for a better, but not that much better, and more expensive rim protector. And the defense still sucks. That move has not aged well.

This team will be very likely to be well above .500 by the end of january.
Where does it say lopez is that highly regarded? Could you link?
I mean the blazers have Matthews/Batum/Aldridge(who's a very good post defender)
How much is it due to lopez or the talent around him?

quote:I just don't believe they've capped themselves out. The Nets are in cap disaster, way worse situation than us, and Simmons came up with a reasonable way to get them out of that situation in 2 or 3 moves.

We could easily move pieces around and get real value in return, not just dump salary like Brooklyn. Gordon's the only "main" guy with no real value.
Anderson, Holiday, Tyreke, and Asik all have real value if they wanted to move them. With that in mind, I think Jrue's the only guy who'll more than likely be here long term.
