and they have the best talent because the REC buys it. in 2002 they were on the verge of the death penalty for paying recruits:

"There is no question that Alabama was staring down the barrel of a gun. Had there been a different approach, there was a clear legislative opportunity to impose the death penalty."

Saban got there 5 years later, in 2007, right as the sanctions ended. His recruiting classes have been ranked 1,1,5,1,1,1,1,1.

oh but Im sure thats just coincidence and, after 50 years of doing anything they wanted, the REC just stopped being corrupt overnight. 2 bad seasons in the NFL apparently took saban from a "very very good" recruiter to "totally and completely 100 percent unstoppable". I simply assume that kids from Louisiana and Florida and Jersey and California all flock to Tuscaloosa because they love pinestraw and racism so much.
