They are desperate after this past week and how much money they have invested in Sumlin now.
They might not offer 2m, but it wouldn't surprise me if they offered much more than the 1.3m he is making.

It would take Chavis the rest of his career to rebuild that D. They just simply do not have the players.

If Chavis were to leave Les will be fired the next year.

That being said, the Aggies could offer 2 mil and we offer 1.5 mil and he'd stick with us because he's one of the most loyal coaches in CFB. He doesnt want to spend his last few years with a dumpster fire rebuild and an offense that puts his defense on the field 40 minutes a game
All good points and I totally agree.
Just wouldn't laugh this off as a joke. They really are desperate and would love nothing more than to steal the DC who has shut down Sumlin three years straight.

We could lose Cameron to the NFL and we'd grumble and stumble some but it wouldnt be the end of Alleva or Miles.
If we lost Chavis, one of the most loyal CFB coaches, to a division rival directly for a little more dough, Alleva would be protested until the day he was fired and Miles probably wouldn't be far behind.
There is way way way more on the line for us losing Chavis, it's not even close really. That's a program killing hire against us pretty much, unless we struck absolute GOLD.

Miles should allocate a chunk of his pay towards Chavis. I'm being serious.

I love Chavis. He's my favorite coach on the staff. But no coach especially an assistant coach leaving a program is an instant program killer. That's a little drama queenish

We are a program built on defense, and you dont just continue to get lucky and hire the absolute best DCs in football. Remember those last few Dinardo years? One year we scored 27 or more points in 8 games and still lost 4 of them.
I'm not saying it's impossible to hire a new great DC, but chances are just that, chances and you dont always hit a home run. We've had Muschamp, Pelini and Chavis in 13 of the last 14 years, which is incredible. What happened that 1 year? The Mallveto and we had one of the most miserable teams in memory.
What happens if we screw up once again, just like that 1 time? Can Alleva afford that? Hell no. Can Les? Not at this point.

I see what you are saying.
I really don't see this happening and chief pulling something like this.

Great vid! It's a perfect commentary on the current status of the aTm program.
Better music would be Gotterdamnerung though.

BDP will finally get his chance at DC

The sun will rise in the west before that happens.

Chief has single-handedly saved Leslie's job at LSU. If he loses him to A&M, he'll have two years tops! Leslie should take a pay cut to keep him here. Everybody knows he's stealing from LSU anyway.

You always seem pretty certain that LSU can't replace Miles but you think they'd just keep rolling without Chavis? Trust me on this.... Chavis leaving would leave Miles on some serious shaky ground. I think Miles knows this and will do everything within his power to keep it from happening.

Not sure why so many posters are laughing at this. Chavis has not signed his extension and A&M has very deep pockets.

LSU’s defense has finished in the top 15 nationally each of the past four seasons. The 2014 defense is ranked eighth — first in the Southeastern Conference —

Coaches let extensions sit on their desks for weeks. You know how much bull shite goes into drafting these extextensions with revisions and all of that legal crap?

Chavis's new contract won't be signed as written. His new contract is the same pay with a 25% buyout clause but the reason he won't sign it is because of the statement that says his contract is null and void IF Miles is not the coach. If miles left tommorrow he has no contract if he signs the new one. If he doesn't sign it LSU still has to pay him 1.3 million next year with or without Miles. Just good business sense on his part. He loves LSU.
