Yeah that's it. It was $80mil not 8. Katy HS purposely moves their district lines around to keep their size the same. They have made this clear many times.
Same reason they won't annex 'new Katy' (south of I-10) into Katy proper.
ETA- just looked it up, Thompkins High School cost $108 mil

There is some beyond questionable zoning like the neighbourhood between Taylor and Cinco that is zoned to Katy high. Haha, Katy football draws a lot of
people in, but the academics at 7, Cinco, and I presume Thompkins is the real draw to the area. They build houses in 2 1/2 months and whole neighbourhoods in a year or two.
