But I do think giving him a series couldn't have hurt with how badly we were looking.
It would almost certainly have hurt him. Not saying Les did him any favors, but had Lee played, our OL would have been responsible for a few broken ribs.

With the way our OL was getting owned, I questioned more T-Bob not playing than JL.
Posted on 12/21/14 at 12:42 pm to chilge1
That would be fine with me if he actually earns it and truly does give us the best opportunity to win. That's exactly what Les told us over and over this year. It's pretty clear which QB has the most upside. I'm hoping that we see significant development of both QB's by the end of next spring. Ohio St should be all the proof you need to believe that we need "at least" 2 BCS level options.

I have no reason to believe that he can't continue to develop as a player.
How's about the fact he is the same pathetic passer he was against Iowa.

With Mett as our QB, our D would have lost the MSST game and our OL would have lost the Arky game.
Officiating and Domingue lost the Bama game.
Stop trying to defend our garbage head coach

He appears to have plateaued. Hope I'm wrong but I don't see a much higher ceiling for the guy.

yes I agree, even though the stats weren't there vs A&M you could see the development. Any thing is possible with him at QB as well as Harris if we continue building on what we started on offense vs A&M. nOw if we continue with the pre Texas A&M offense into the bowl game and through next season I would expect the same garbage results from the offense and especially QB's/recievers with perhaps slight improvement due to experience.

But he's also a true sophomore in his first year as a starter in the SEC.
I'm so sick of this excuse. Good lord, he's been in the system two full years. Had a month of practice last year as the starter in the bowl game, and then all of spring and fall camp and this season.
The "inexperience" excuse is a sham.
Johnny Manziel was a redshirt freshman playing under a new coach. He did ok. Jameis Winston was a redshirt freshman. He did ok. Blake Sims was a first year starter under a brand new OC. He did ok.
Stop with the excuses. If a guy has the ability, it tends to show up early.

if jennings is our qb for 2015 we'll be lucky to win 8 games much less start 8-0

Then I guess his next 12 games should go pretty well.

Yeah, because freshmen QBs win Heismans all the time... oh, wait... those are the only two examples in CFB history.

Blake Sims is a fifth year Senior.

How did Mett do the year prior to leading the best offense we've had since Russell became a No. 1 pick?

Those examples were meant to show that players can play, regardless of experience.
Experience-wise, Sims was effectively a freshman. He had no meaningful snaps before this year, and had a brand new OC and a new play book (gasp) to learn.
Please STOP, STOP, STOP with the "inexperience excuse." It's a complete sham.

SOME players can play, regardless of experience. Russell and Perilloux were like that. Jennings is not on that level.
This is a crock of shite. You think nobody at Alabama adjusted his footwork and throwing motion before this year?
Matt Flynn did this ... Jason Campbell. .. I'm sure there are many others.
Its also not hard to learn 1. Throw it to Cooper 2. Throw a screen 3. Hand off to Yeldon 4. Run

Two observations.
Jennings did not really improve much as the season progressed. It did and he did not.
Miles is going to play him anyway while giving lip service to playing Harris just like he did this year.

You mean more of the SOS: Miles, Cam and their old style, predictable, unbalanced, run first, ultra slow play, Time of possession, low scoring offense has been buried by the SEC/FBS/NFL offensive revolution. A Dual Threat "Harris-type" QB with an NFL arm and quick feet operating from the shotgun is the lynchpin of modern offense.
AJ is not improving and it is hurting recruiting in the massive shift toward shotgun-based offenses and multiple-receiver sets at every level. The NFL is pass first/pass second with 55-68% of plays being passes, 75% shotgun (avg) with 58% of plays having more than 3 WRs. Manning avgs 86% shotgun, Flacco 87% (2013) with the Eagles over 92%.
Jennings stalled, regressed as the season went on. Over the last 4 games he had 3 TDs, 4 INTs, 3 fumbles, (20 sks on the yr), avg 10 completions, (40/85 = 47%), 11 pts/game and ranked from 126-128th in the FBS. Miles and Cam are too much alike coming from the same old school that thinks prostyle is under center with I-formation and 2TEs blocking...too predictable and eschews the tactics of modern offenses. "The game has changed more in the last year than the last 25" Saban - he went shotgun HUNH and along with Kiffin and Sims he credits the modern tactics to saving his reputation and their season.
In 12 games AJ had 104 completions (8/gm) and Harris who played the equivalent of 1 full game had 25 completions or 20% with an FBS high 10 ypa. Harris also finished with a 175 rating at the top of the SEC and Jennings finished with 115 at the bottom.
In the last 10 games Jennings only managed 5 TDs, 1 each in 5 of the 10 games, none rushing even though he was the the 3rd leading rusher with 100 attempts. He got 1/3 of his rushing yds in the A&M game for a 2.8 ypa avg.
Harris had 9 TDs to Jennings 10 in 1/12th the time. Harris had only 2 INTs, 2 sks, and set scoring records with Dupre in the State and blew it away in the NMST game with a 250 rating, highest in the nation on 7 for 7 scoring while Jennings had a -21 rating.
