What if: Jennings as starter for 2015

The narrative is the desire for Brandon Harris, the #3DT QB to be named the starter in the offseason and lead the team next year. I could see it happening, especially with a weak schedule early next season. The biggest obstacles will be Auburn and MSST teams that will be decimated by the NFL draft. Other SEC games include 6-5 Florida with a new HC and 6-6 USCe.
There is a clear distinction with QBs under Les Miles, that those who have spent 2 years or less in the program perform poorly when named the starter, and those with 3 years or more perform well and/or excel.
Assuming we can go 8-0 with either QB as our starter based on depth and talent at every other position, would the Rant rather have Harris as our starter against Bama, aTm, OM, and Arky with 9 starts, or Jennings as our starter with 22?
The trend suggests that the smart move would be to have Jennings continue as the starter, though it has been shown that an immense talent can and will override this trend (Jamarcus Russell). Also, we alternated QBs in 2011, a season in which we ranked 11th in Offensive Efficiency and played for a NC.
Magic Number: 106
In 2014 games in which Anthony Jennings had a QB rating of 106 or higher, LSU won the game. In 2014 in which Anthony Jennings had a QB rating lower than 106, LSU lost the game. Assuming this is the requirement for LSU to win a game against any given opponent, would it be a better option for Harris to take over next year, or trust that Jennings can meet that requirement and groom Harris for 2016?

I just don't have any faith that Jennings can move through his reads. Now usually when fans say this its bullshite because we dont know the play or who his first reads are but its clear AJ locks on.

I legitimately think Jennings wins the Heisman next year. Watch.

You're right. But he's also a true sophomore in his first year as a starter in the SEC. You have to go back to 2004 to Jamarcus Russell when he shared time with Marcus Randall to find a QB with his experience who has played well under similar circumstances.
I have no reason to believe that he can't continue to develop as a player. IMO the Auburn game was a turning point for him. Still not numbers you want from the QB position, but much better than he did against Wisconsin and MSST.

I will watch the reports on Spring practice and see what happens butt, until then, have other things to keep me busy. bH for,QB is how I feel right now tho after seeing this year's QB product.

Then LSU needs to hire a new QB talent evaluator.

For the sake of a Rant meltdown, I kinda hope we have shite QB play again next year and go 12-0. Assuming Kwon, Vadal, and Hawkins stay next year, I honestly think that we can beat anyone if Jennings can consistently put up a stat line like:
11/20 140 yds 1 TD 1 INT
9 carries 40 yds

I desire for the best quarterback to start next year. If Jennings improves, then he would be a good quarterback for us. He showed signs of smart scrambling late in the year. Maybe he will be the mobile quarterback Miles has always wanted! And if he is good next year, he could improve even more by his senior year.
Brandon Harris would great to have as the starter only if he is truly better. Both quarterbacks are young. I just hope that we go with who gives us a chance to win NOW as opposed to eternally grooming guys for the future.

We lose 3 to 4 games and Les Miles is fired at the end of the season.

What I hate most about qb history at LSU we have NFL caliber defensive players year after year but can't get solid qb play. Championship opportunities slip by year after year, 2011 IMO we win NC with J.Lee I really feel strongly bout this. AJ is not the answer backup at best, last year was a wasted year at qb. Insert BH an let him take his lumps at best we finish 10-2, but in 2016 we should win it all IMO we blow out every one we play!

Yes we can.
With our ability to run the ball and assuming AJs rushing attempts come from scrambles that result in a 1st down or three he could've thrown for that's enough.
Especially with our defense.
On the same not any qb that can do that is suffice... BH certainly capable if those numbers.
Can't shite the bed like he did at auburn.
That was as bad as any AJ performance and we all saw auburn wasn't the 84 bear defense.

Then your opinion is shite. Jlee crumbles under pressure and our oline was like swish cheese on 1/9.

As long as we don't lose a ton of underclassmen in the draft than It really wont matter who the QB is next year. Our defense could be something special. We will have one of the strongest defenses in the country. It will carry us like it did in 2010 and 2011 when we had mediocre offenses. In 2010 we defeated Bama and went 11-2. JJ and Lee combined for 9 tds and 11 ints, even more pathetic than Jennings/Harris this year. Both QB will improve and the young wrs will get better. Hopefully we dont lose Vadal or Hawkins so the Oline wont take a big hit. We can continue to lean on the run game.

Jennings showed almost no sign of improvement throughout the entire season. He learned a dump pass to the full back. That's it. Zero faith he can lead us to a nc. At least Harris is an unknown variable with talent.

All I want is whoever Miles goes with in 2015 the QB position is dramatically improved or we will once again have wasted a defense that could bring LSU a NC just like in 2011. Our defense next year will be good enough to win a NC as long as we have competent QB play.
As far as who should the QB be, I kind of compare what happened at the Mike position this year. Prior to Beckwith starting our defense was not that great, but when they finally could not take it anymore and started Beckwith the defense was down right nasty. Look I really want AJ to succeed, just like I wanted Welter to succeed because of the hard work they put in and what great teammates and students they are you pull for them. But I don't think AJ has the talent to bring LSU an SEC or national championship just like Welter didn't have the talent to make our defense tops in the SEC. I think switching Harris for Jennings would be the same as switching Beckwith for Welter. People look at what Jennings did to TAMU and get excited and say if he can just do that consistently we will win. The problem is TAMU literally has the worst defense in the SEC if he didn't look respectable against TAMU they seriously should have processed him, and I hate saying that because I am truly pulling for Jennings. Welter, just like Jennings, had games where you went if he could just play like that every game we will be fine. But the problem is that Welter looked ok against inferior competition but when we stepped up in competition Welter looked awful. That is no different from Jennings play, he is the Welter of the offense. Until we replace him we will not win consistently. He had a year to improve, just like Welter did last year, and he didn't Arky is a perfect example of that.
I just hope it doesn't take Miles and staff to figure that out through 4 games next year like it took for them to finally say the defense is yours Beckwith this year. If they don't make that switch prior to the season starting next year we will not win an SEC championship. Give the keys to Harris in the spring and playing time in the bowl game "won't happen" and let's ride or die with the kid, he is a playa like Beckwith he will perform.
