Dont take this the wrong way, but buying a small wine cellar is like buying a small food processor. It is a complete and utter waste of both money and space.
Does he store a lot of wine? Than a six bottle wine cooler isnt going to do him any good. Does he buy wine from a grocery store and consume it within hours, than an 8 bottle probably isnt going to get the wine chilled quickly enough for him.
My advice, buy him something else.

Buy him a wooden wine rack. Most homes with ac keep wine cool enough not to spoil it

If he likes wine, how about a nice monogrammed wine bucket? It will keep the bottles out of your mama's ice maker, and the monogram makes it personal. Widely available in everything from crystal to pewter to polished chrome.

if he as 50 bottles around the house, he doesn't need a small wine cellar ... he needs a wine chiller for 1 bottle ... much smaller and more efficient ... for the 50 bottles, he needs a large wine rack of some kind where they can lie flat ... corks dry out more easily if the bottle is upright ...

He doesn't cook and he's got plenty of rods and reels. Thanks though.

don't know of any brand or type that is better than the others ... maybe one that has the temperature on it is the best ...
needs to fit all types of bottles ... champagne bottles are usually wider than normal wine bottles, and others are taller and slimmer, so you'd want to check for that ...

So I've got to ask: does the quick chiller work any faster than a bucket of ice/water? Cause I'd rather have a nice bucket than a single-use electric appliance.
