it was certainly close to 50/50 as it should've been.

It was in our home state, only 60 miles from our campus, for the national title, and against our most hated rival. We should've had more fans there, despite Bama's reputation of traveling well. A ton of LSU fans sold their tickets to Bama fans. It may have been a 50/50 split, but it sure felt like a Bama home game to me. Ever since that game, something about our football program has been "off." Our fans have traveled very poorly ever since then.

The headline of this thread is misleading. Of the 55K tickets sold to the bowl game, LSU has only sold about 7K. That's nothing to brag about, considering that we used to bring upwards of 20K fans to bowl games in the past.

You don't know how bowl tickets work, do ya? I can promise you thousands of Bama fans had tickets for the BCS Title game bought in August. You also fail to mention how close to Alabama the game is as well. They have many sidewalk fans in Louisiana that were able to use their own corporate connections to get tickets. Don't act like LSU fans bought tickets from LSU, then turned around and sold seats right next to the Golden Girls to Bama fans.

I was at the game in the Superdome as I was for the previous two championship games. I always pay attention to the crowd split based upon colors in the sections. I estimate at least a 55/45 split in favor of LSU. It just did not seem that way as the game progressed.

People are probably sick of paying good money to go to the "Maybe Next Year Bowl" ever since then.

I live in Nashville, TN and there are a ton of LSU people buying tickets to this game "Outside" of the 8,000 or so allotted to LSU. There will be 25,000 + for LSU and the stadium, LP Field, only holds 68,798 The upper deck won't be filled up, but the lower level and Club level will be rocking with LSU & Notre Dame fans. I expect a 55/45 split favoring LSU, but we'll see.

I bought 3 tickets off Ticketmaster that aren't included in the 7,000, so make that 7,003.
