I was pretty pissed about this at first, then I researched it and that is supposedly how he wanted it. He said he wanted it to be accessible to all types of people and not just Christians. He said he hoped that the ending would send them digging deeper and discover Christ themselves. I am not sure I totally agree with that approach but at least it is not contrary to what he wanted.
