I'm reading articles like this that say it will be a high priority on the Senate's to-do list for next year.

But then I read articles like this that says it "no longer makes economic sense" anymore.

Where do you guys stand on this issue...?

Ok. That was a really DUMB question.

Try this one: is this really a high-priority issue? What issues would you consider 'higher'? Repealing Obamacare? Thoughts?

That's just silly. Of course it makes sense. Do they really think all that development in Canada is just going to come to a halt? Oil is coming to market either by rail or pipeline. Pipeline is safer and cheaper. /thread

With oil at its current price level, it does not make economic sense...which is why OPEC is pumping oil like crazy.

It's a high-priority issue because the Saudis aren't going to keep pumping freebie oil forever. When they raise the prices back up, we'll need to be right back at working toward energy independence. The writer of the MSN article is very near-sighted.

Repealing the ACA is a much higher issue, but the GOP will probably puss out and just make tweaks. Our only real hope on that is the SCOTUS in the Spring.

Another big priority is fixing the tax code. At the very least it needs to be simplified down to just 4 levels of income but the ideal (to me, at least) would be a flat tax and Congress has to learn to live within its means.

It will safely transport oil from Canada to the refineries in the south, decreasing the chances of a spill, creating a shite load of construction jobs for some time, and making gas cheaper

Basically, liberals want the oil trucked, because of the higher risk of spilling and the carbon emissions are great for the environment, oh wait. Man it's so hard to keep up with their arguments

Liberals are anti future, anti environment...see nuclear energy

This should have been approved 3 years ago. It's a damn fine joke to see how this has been handled.

A rich liberal donated 100 million dollars to democrats under the auspices that the pipeline XL and other things the greenies are against would not be pushed through.

Can you say money buys influence ?

The dumb bastards blew a 100 million dollars to lose like champs.
