This, plus not putting in the work necessary to learn the Offense and Playbook.
LM and CC don't give a damn about his arm strength and athleticism if he can't learn the plays and effectively run the offense in an SEC game. Why do yall think he didn't play after the Auburn game?
Occams Razor people. The simplest explanation is usually the correct one. It aint Rocket Science....
You nor anyone else on here knows how much work Brandon Harris is putting in nor whether he is absorbing the lessons from Coach Cameron. And of course your (BRAVEHEART) first assumption would be that he can't learn the plays (lack of intelligence) being as how he is not your preference in QBs.
All of these conclusions on BH not working hard enough or not learning is based on him not playing after the Auburn game, not on credible facts anyone here knows. In other words the last two Heisman winning QBs didn't work hard enough and didn't learn the playbook as freshman because unlike Brandon, they received no playing time as true freshman. Stupid, ignorant BS.

has this really been a documented thing? I've never heard of him having issues...

He's a freshman. He knows the playbook backwards and forwards. What he doesn't get is how to translate that to performance without having to think about it when the monsters are charging in his face. We had HORRIFIC blocking during the Auburn game. Les had visions of 2008 Jarret Lee Alabama game PTSD and this is the evidence that he learned a lesson from that. Lee was NEVER able to play Alabama again without shitting the bed. This year was a rebuilding year. He let him sit and got the backup a lot of reps in the hope he'd develop. Considering the strength of the West this year anybody that thought we'd take it with all the new kids as starters needs to pull their heads out of their asses.
Look, just think fondly on that last couple of minutes in the Miss State game and dream of next year. It's going to be ok as long as Harris has done the work, doesn't do anymore unsanctioned press interviews like he did this year with Tim Fletcher, and doesn't piss himself once it starts getting real next year.
We'll be fine.

quote:I totally agree with you and I don't understand why people gloat about Cam having mentored those guys, yet are upset that Harris isn't starting. What exactly did Brees, Rivers and Flacco do as true freshmen in college? And those guys, I'd imagine would have taken a lot of snaps from under center in highschool.
A system that does not require a Rhodes scholar to understand, master and execute. CC has to understand that these kids usually aren't Drew Brees or Joe Flacco

I say all of this to conclude with another statement. If CC is spending this much time trying to coach the kid up, maybe it's just the kid not absorbing what he needs to. It's apparent that Cam is putting in the time to teach the kid, so what else is there?
Start recruiting real QB's.

Statistically, Hatch was better
He played garbage teams bro, and got destroyed in his 1st and only game against SEC competition. He was not a division 1 QB

Agree on that.

Yes, he's a freshman. We're all aware. The point is that this kid hasn't yet absorbed what he needs to and it's not from lack of coaching. Many on this board love to blast Miles and staff for not being able to develop a QB. If the players don't absorb what being coached, the blame needs to be placed more on the player than the coach at this point. Yes, he's young and has a few years to grow. I'm just getting tired of the "Miles can't develop a QB" argument you hear constantly on here.

he just hasn't gotten the system yet

Not true. Lee played well in the 2010 game where Miles rotated the QBs.
The problem with Miles is that he's not consistent in how he deals with issues like fumbling or interceptions. If you're his pet, then you can throw INTs and fumble all over the place (see AJ multiple times this season). Harris wasn't given the opportunity to redeem himself after his poor showing at Auburn, just like Lee was never given a chance after the Bama game in 2011. It's how Miles works.

How do you know that?

What if....just for the sake of a different perspective....BH can't elevate his high school skills to the college level? Some athletes peak out in high school. No amount of coaching can change this.
So what if it happens to BH? How will so many of you cope with this disappointment? The fixation of this board with an unproven athlete is downright scary.

the fixation began at the end of the MSU game and really heated up after New Mexico State
go look up the comparison of QB play to understand why that occurred. that had nothing to do with athleticism and everything to do with on-field performance

Exactly. He almost won that Miss State game single handedly. It's like people have completely forgotten that fact or something.

Unclench your butthole. Prior to him that was a blowout. Him getting on the field changed everything.

He is a freshman in the SEC relax. You all expect freshman to step in and be nfl hall of famers. It's called a learning curve. Jennings still hasn't gotten it.

Because teenagers are kids.
You'll learn this when you grow up.
