Nightcrawler thoughts

Just saw it and I'm waiting to see the hobbit. On my phone so forgive errors and there hasn't been a discussion going back 4 pages.
I thought it was great. One of my top 3 movies this year. A couple of thoughts;
I saw the discussion somewhere about how the police and news director behaved. The simple fact is they wouldn't in real life. The police wouldnt put up with the shite about him being invading an active crime scene, destroying evidence, on a flimsy claim to help people. If he was trying to help people, he wouldn't be filming. Also, one of my majors was in jschool and you can't enter a property without permission from owners or police. You can do whatever you want from the street though. There was a famous law suit of a naked woman running away from a hostage situation and she was photographed and she sued for indecency and the suit failed because it was shot from the street.
As far as creepy journalists go, I thought jake nailed it. I had a professor who he reminded me a lot of. He talked about betting with the police who would be the first to puke from a grisly crime scene, breaking into people's houses to phone a story in, and watching autopsy videos of murder victims and shite of fricked up stuff with no real emoticon.
Jake at was great. The news director was acted fine but I found the character to be lacking. I thought his car being race car red was idiotic. The whole blackmailing for sex subplot was idiotic. I loved the cinematography. Will have more later.

I thought he was awesome in the part. Found tthe movie kinda boring. I much preferred prisoners and enemy.

yea, i liked the movie, but the one thing I couldn't get over was how ridiculous it was that he didn't get in trouble for entering a house where a triple homicide just took place

I liked it and found it disturbing.

Thought it was a great movie. Jake knows how to play any role pretty well. I did like Prisoners more also.

Just finished Nightcrawler. Easily my favorite movie that I have seen this year. Anybody think there will be a sequel?

Man I was so drunk when I wrote that. So poorly written.

It was like something Paul Schrader would have wrote. In fact it was kind of a cross between Taxi Driver and American Psycho. I thought it was great on many levels in the subject matter it was dealing with. From the psychological aspects to what was really a biting critic of crime/news journalism. Makes you look not just at the people that film and produce true crime but the audience that eagerly consumes it. We watch wondering how far Lou will go like Rick we are just supposed to be along for the ride.

I was kind of let down by it. I thought the creep level could have been turned way up. Maybe it was just my expectations were unrealistic, and since they weren't met, I didn't enjoy it.
