I think post 25 years of age, the age gaps no matter the amount have less gripes because for the most part its two adults who likely have their own financial credit to their name etc.
Pretty much this.
By your mid-20s, it's highly likely that you're finished with college and beginning a career. You should have the freedom to date who you choose. The maturity level is the biggest factor. I've seen early-20 y/o girls mature beyond their years, as well as the exact opposite.

The worst are those early 20s girls who have completely unrealistic expectations about life and marriage. These are probably the girls who always thought "girls are just always more mature" than boys. I chuckle every time a girl says that. They think because they say mature things, and hang around "mature" people that it means they're by default also mature. Wrong. Their life decisions say otherwise lol.

I'm 24 and have tried to date 20 year olds and it just doesn't work. They're too immature, inexperienced, and generally care way too much about what people think of them. I think once a person hits a certain point of adulthood though, it doesn't make a difference.
For women its when they realize their looks wont last forever and they "drop their standards", as they say it. The "Standards" are really complete idealizations IMO. I personally believe those idealizations subconsciously are rooted in media, and certain shows like Grey's Anatomy or whatever other bullshite tv romance shows are out there. The Bachelor?

Girls just chase the butterflies and sparks early on then they figure out that's not always a great indicator for a successful relationship.

Yep. They've seen too many movies, watched too many TV shows or read some fairytale BS in a book which clouds their perception on what it's really going to be like.

Exactly. I would even say its most of the time a bad indicator. Can even count the number of stories with some "charming and perfect" man that ultimately ends up being a serial killer or ends up pulling the ole' Sawyer like on LOST and steals their money/mooches. Or what possesses girls to continue on in abusive relationships? Sure as hell had to be something, and usually its right at the beginning when he shows off his best stuff. Then its all shite.

Nothing wrong with big age gaps. It is always funny to me when an older guy tries to justify dating a hot young 20 something by saying she's mature for her age. I just want to laugh and say it's ok that you are with her because she is hot, we all get it

I think at first that can be true, but if he ends up dating her for a long time? That legitimately takes patience. You'd definitely see the bad parts of her, and even the most attractive women in the world can have really difficult issues underneath.

Well besides that. I'd say that life changes quite a bit between your early 20s and early 30s, so a lot of us would prefer to date (date, not "hook up with") women who are what touchy feely types would call "on our level" or "at the same place" in life. I'm 32, and even though I don't have kids or an ex-wife, I think my priorities and interests are probably quite different from a 20-22 year old woman.
Hell, I'm already worried about retirement.

And I'm not saying thats exactly what they think, but I honestly think it has a subconscious effect on how they go about their dating lives.

Agree with this. By 30 people are who they are going to be for the rest of their life IMO.

I'm 34. I started dating this girl that is in college. I thought she was 22-23. She's 19. She doesn't like to party and loves my kids.
Yeah. Marry this one and she'll resent you, the guy who took away her youth.

That guy is not relationship material. That guy is always hiding something. If you can't find anything wrong with him early on, then there's something terribly wrong with him.

Yeah I'd be VERY careful with that one no doubt. If its meant to be, it'll happen, but don't force the issue. Really need to give her the space when required.

A male contractor that we do business with got married to a 32 yr old recently, he is 71.
Biggest age gap I have ever tried was 6 years, didnt last long, but not because of the age difference.
