I disagree with this. There were only a few people on campus that had laptops because even a PoS was $2K then. I was actually jealous of people that had one.

I was in highschool before/when cell phones became widespread. I remember being able to tell what part of town someone lived in by the first three digits of their home phone number.

I had one friend that had a personal computer with Internet during the Napster years. He made a few dollars off of us burning CDs. I probably shouldn't have said nerd, just wasn't as common for a high school or college kid to have their own personal computer. I remember some parents having one, including mine. I guess the term computer nerd was thrown around a lot more back then is why I say that.

Yeah that was a bad call from that dude. Everyone was IM'ing back then. I remember in 99-02 that was part of the game. What's your aim address.
