Using the term platform is misleading. AR15 and AR10 are two different platforms in which certain parts are not interchangeable (upper receiver, lower receiver, bolt, mags, etc.)
If you are referring to manufacturers, if they are reputable, they should produce mil-spec parts and should be interchangeable within the same platform. I.E. I use BCM uppers on PSA lowers with no fitment issues.

no issues.
I have a DPMS lower and an LMT upper one.
Another is DPMS lower and building one with a YHM upper receiver and various other manufacturers on the rest

Make sure everything is mil spec and you're good to go. Only problem I've ever had is when I used a Spikes lower-if you side by side with another manufacturer you'll notice that Spikes are a tad bit thinner. All other builds using Anderson and rock river parts no problems.
Armalite is a whole different story. They are different than everyone else.

After your edit:
In this instance, using Spikes and Aero, yes they will fit but there may be a little wiggle.
No matter what, no. Refer to my post above.

Say i want to get a lower from one company but an upper from another. Automatic fit/functionality no matter what right?

Let me restate my answer.
There are mil-spec lowers and commercial lowers
As far as i know the major difference is Mil-spec requires a smaller buffer tube.

I have that exact lower
That upper is the new M4E1 enhanced. It uses M4 feedramps and is one piece forged design.
I'm shooting for this look, with the Spikes lower.

I have mixed del-ton, palmetto state and cmmg with no problems. And some off brand lower parts kits.

my main concern is putting that exact one piece upper on that exact lower TBH.

what is you concern about it? it will fit just fine.
out of my 7 rifles 2 of them complete factory rifles. all the others are franken-builds with mix and matched manufacturers

I can't swap out uppers and lowers amongst my different rifles and have no problems

There are milpec and commercial BUFFER TUBES...90% of lowers are made to the same milspec dimensions, but may not be milspec bc of different coating, metals, etc...
To answer OP's question..they will mate up fine.

Should be fine, I have an essential arms lower on a palmetto state armory upper and have had no issues whatsoever

Agreed. It caught my eye and as I scrolled down, your post nailed it.
It looks really cool whether it has some wiggle or not.

The upper and lower will not be one piece. This is where the "wiggle" would be. A little "wiggle" is not necessarily a bad thing on an AR and to an extent is expected. If your rifle/pistol has a little wiggle and you can't stand it then you can get an accuwedge or a lower that has a set screw that will make the fit tighter.
