He makes like $5-600K now....Can VT really double that? What about paying him say $1.5M like we could?
I don't see it. Sumlin knows full well that this DC hire makes or breaks him. We didn't spend $500M on a stadium to pinch pennies with our next DC hire.
Also, as with the Chavis comparison in Tenn, Beamer could very well be out and they would very well want to start all over next year. Why would Foster hitch his wagon to that?

This is the thing. The Aggies have $500 million on the table right now. We wouldn't do this, but it would be financially correct to offer Nick Saban $15 million per year to avoid falling apart as a program with the huge investment into the stadium.
I think it's pretty clear that we blew our load too early on Sumlin. He could end up being a great coach, but he had it easy with Johnny. Any number we throw at a DC will be worth it if it keeps us from getting no return on a $500 million investment.
