Here's a tip: if it has a red nose, it's NOT an Amstaff, nor is it a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Stray that had killed my neighbors Feist two weeks before. It had been making itself at home in our cul d sac for a few weeks...wandering between our yards several times a day. I popped him with a BB gun a few times to try and make it weary if coming around but it just kept getting more crafty in staying out of range. We are the only two homes in that circle as we both have 2.5 acres and he had basically made the woods around our houses his territory. After getting him with the BB gun 4-5 times he got to where he would immediately dart into the wood line as soon as he saw me or my neighbor step outside. His 15 year old got dropped off from school and heard his dog under duress in the back yard. He watched the stray maul his dog and grabbed a baseball bat. The dog bolted before he got down there. I had called animal control twice before but they couldn't locate the dog the one time they came out. Nobody in my neighborhood had a clue who it belonged to and with 4 kids, including 8 and 4 year olds.....I decided to just kill it myself. Basically hunted it like a deer. I knew the trail he always emerged from the woods when entering my yard so I sat there hidden in some brush. He came up the trail to about 10 ft from me and I just put one between the eyes. He died instantly and I dug a hole and buried him.

When my SO was three, she was attacked by a Chow dog.

She was severely injured and possibly would have died if a pit bull had not attacked the chow and saved her.
