Michigan doesn't want miles because it's obvious he's plateaued and underachieved with the talent he's had.
you do realize that outside of one season (Brady Hoke's first), Les Miles' down years are equal with the best that Michigan has been since they ran off Lloyd Carr?

If Les Miles went to Michigan and had identical records to his records that he's had at LSU, it would be equal to the best run that Michigan has had in the last 50 years. Bo Schembechler, Gary Moeller, Lloyd Carr, and Les Miles have basically had almost identical careers. Except that Moeller and Schembechler never won a NC. All 4 coaches are very good coaches who regularly win/won all but 2-4 games a year.

Les Miles is literally the perfect coach to duplicate the 40 years of success that they've had. The only reason people don't realize that is because Michigan has a severely inflated view of their prestige. They won 10 NCs between 1901 and 1948. Since then, they've won 1. They aren't nearly as relevant as they think.

Is he taking over a program that is championship caliber from day one at Michigan? If not, then there are reasonable questions as to whether he can keep them near his down years here.
