The problem is by paying to "boost" post, you are buying clicks and likes from click factories in Laos, India, etc.

As opposed to the old fashioned free organic growth that started by you creating the page and getting local friends to like it, which in turn showed up on other local peoples feeds.

20K likes from India doesn't help a small town bakery in Bumfrick, LA.

That's my main beef with it...

This. I did get a ton of likes from boosted posts. But I only can serve customers in a five parish area. Having "likes" out of state and country are no help, and those likes are expensive to get.
