I don't think anyone is calling this a "memorable win" or anything. But it was encouraging and refreshing to see us try new stuff on offense by getting our playmakers in space and still sticking to our identity of ramming it down people's throats. And we won. At this juncture I don't know what else to ask for. Obviously we still have a lot of work to do for the bowl game and in the offseason.

It took a lot of bad plays and tough losses to get us to that point (i.e., the point of trying new wrinkles in the offense). But at least we got there last night. Hopefully, we'll carry over some of that creativity into next season.

this^

most predicted lsu 8-4, some thought 4-8,=.
mostly a NEW frosh heavy (read high school) team.

if the ol stays, we goin' to the ship.

but, if ol goes pro, we are still rebuildin'.

It's not a "new offense". We simply ran a couple of plays that we hadn't run before. As others have pointed out, we have run the read options many times this year.

was a lot more to it than just 'running the read option'. Also lined up in shotgun and pistol quite a bit. Also single back formations and two backs but not in an I. Tons of misdirection, passes on non mandantory passing downs (and a lot of variety in the pass game). The main thing was what we didn't do. We didn't just try to ram the ball down their throats against impossible odds like we usually do.

yes that was the sore point. Gave up on the pass game way to early. But still what little we did throw was a complete departure from what we have done in the past when you consider down and distance and to whom the ball was thrown to.

In Cam's back pocket. I know Aggie D sucks D...but the change was so drastic, and pretty much what most wanted to see beside the pass accuracy...that some could feel that a higher up said look..change this shite or shits gonna get real. Definately not a conspiracy guy but that would sure be funny as hell if Alleva or whoever said EFF this im sick of it. Just a funny thought i guess

Sounds like people are getting a false positive impression of this offense from one game. TAMU has the #105 overall defense in ypg and the #113 overall defense in rushing ypg. Running 10 jet sweeps or whatever doesn't mean we've had an offensive revolution.

It would appear that he didn't. There was so much more imagination, misdirection, unpredictability, etc. that we've seen all year from our offense. The jet sweeps were just part of it.

Dead Mike, the Rant don't accept facts too often. You might get lucky and convince them that this is a FACT.

It was a god awful defense meaning even if the execution was off it could still result in a positive play. Lsu has had better offensive games this season. We also seem to get over conservative and plan for field goals before we are really forced to. That characteristic as usual was prevalent last night. I don't see how we get so dumb every time we're inside the 20. Year after year a staple of the lsu offense is high amount of FG's in red zone. Even if our conversion rate is high, we always have far more FG's than most teams in the country.

Playing against real SEC West defenses (not warmed-over Big 12 pseudo-defenses).

Yes A&M d is bad but how good do u need to b when a team runs out of I with full back signaling where they r going? At least lsu did change that last night. That sweep play was used back at first of the season with # 86 and it worked . I haven't seen that play since nor have I seen 86 on the field . Who knows but maybe somebody got in miles arse about his bs offense and losing games without changing .
