One could argue that even though their resume's before taking the LSU job were incredibly similar (and that's exactly what was said at the time by the way) the better argument would be that the LSU program that Saban left required the hiring of a coach with a better career record THAN EVEN SABAN HIMSELF HAD HAD BEFORE LANDING THE JOB, would it not?

So you are going to ignore the sanctions aspect of his initial years at MSU?

No, not at all...but they weren't on probation forever. I've never once suggested the man did a bad job at MSU. He clearly did not.

This isn't my argument, after all. Some here are arguing that because Miles had a mediocre record at the dumpster fire that was OSU at the time therefore we can hire literally anyone with a similar record and do just as well here.

That's idiotic, as it does not take into account what they were like before here got there and what he had to work with...much like Saban and MSU. Both of their records were mediocre, but showed vast improvement from what they took over and, in both cases, showed that they were better than their records indicated.

Why does Miles record at MSU get hung around his neck as a negative, while Saban's does not? Neither should, as both were exceptional given what they had to work with at the time.

There are just so many REAL things to bitch about with Miles...there's no reason to pull stuff like that out of one's own arse. It's why even when some of the guys here that rant and rave about Miles DO make a good point, it's often times ignored by those with common sense because the rest of the time they are hollering about complete bullshite.
