Th prelunch snacks: old-school relish tray w/cornichons, olives, pickled garlic, pickled onions, and a retro cheese ball (grated sharp cheddar, cream cheese, rolled in chopped pecans)
Th lunch: salad, roasted turkey breast, ham, haricots verts in shallot brown butter, twice baked potatoes, cornbread dressing, sweet potato crunch. German chocolate cake. Probably some homemade bread, too. That's what passes for low key & scaled down in my family.
The real feasting is on Saturday for a larger family party. Fried chicken from Chicken Sue's in Lakeview, field peas cooked w/andouille, a copycat version of Cochon Butcher's mac n cheese, apple/celery slaw, green salad w/goat cheese & cranberries, and a variety of desserts. After I schlep 125 pieces of chicken 20+ miles, I may never get the chicken smell out of my car.
