This is called bullet setback. If there is a round that doesn't have a tight enough crimp, this is a real possibility. The action of a pistol is violent and forceful enough to drive that bullet back into the case.

I try to change my carry ammo batch about every year. And after I'm done at the range (when the JHPs are not in the mags) I usually take the best looking round and put it on top. I try to make sure I rotate them enough to prevent bullet setback. Plus I try to change my carry batch every year. Being subjected to hot and cold back and forth time and time again makes me uneasy about my ammo even though I probably have nothing to worry about, so I shoot it out after a while. Better safe than sorry.

We'd probably agree on a lot of things, Bap - except that whole "birdshot as a defense round" thing.
