Just bought a DK Amiibo
Has anyone else bought one?
I am trying to decide if I should buy another one and keep this one in its original packaging without opening it, I have a strange feeling these could be worth more $ in a few years like Beanie Babies or Pokemon Cards were

I'm thinking about getting a Link one for Christmas but I still don't understand exactly what the benefits of having one are

From Wikipeida:
"Amiibo are a series of figurines produced by Nintendo for use with the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U gaming platforms. Similar to Skylanders and Disney Infinity, these figures, which are modeled after characters from Nintendo's various franchises, use near field communication (NFC) to interact with supported video game software, allowing data to be transferred in and out of each game and across multiple platforms.
The figures can be used directly with the Wii U GamePad and New Nintendo 3DS,[1] with an adapter for older Nintendo 3DS systems to be released in 2015.[2]"
TL;DR
Skylanders/Disney Infinity for Nintendo. Currently works with Super Smash Bros.

I still don't get it.
It's basically a USB drive to transfer your characters data from device to device. Just it doesn't have to plug into anything to transfer the data.

There pretty cool, leveled up my Mario and he is kicking arse in Smash.

So it's basically dlc with a figurine?

Pretty much, it unlocks stuff for that character in different Nintendo games.
It's acts like a Pokemon in Smash where it gets stronger the more you use it.

Does it work for other games yet?
Posted on 11/24/14 at 7:36 pm to Mr Gardoki
Yeah, Hyrule Warriors and some other game

I do have Mario kart, I never play it anymore though.
