The senate sent a bill over to the house and they wouldn't even bring it to a vote because they were afraid of the political damage it would do.
I'm certain the GOP didn't want to vote on an immigration bill prior to the mid terms but after the way obama strong armed the ACA it's also understandable why many in the GOP were less than trusting of this president.

I think OP is underestimating how fed up white Americans are with the pandering to minorities.

Yeah man, we get it.
You're all cool and edgy and you just want to watch it all burn.

It's a hysterical place to be.

Yes, yes he did.
Now the challenge will be to fire back in a strategic way.

are you aware that deportations are at an all-time high under the Obama administration?
Are there more coming in or has deportations lagged the last 6 years?
Saying "let's secure the border" sounds good but it doesn't solve much of anything. [/quote]
Disagree. I don't see how you can address the millions here while having what amounts to a open border.

If I could buy you for what you are worth....and sell you for what you think you are worth....I would be a much wealthier man.

South Park references are a solid basis for hubris.

It was self deprecation. Stop being such a sandy vagina.

This was my theory all along. Its about 2016

A comprehensive plan that secures the border first, implements a robust temporary worker program, with e-Verify and stiff penalties on employers, severe restriction on entitlements, EITC, education access, and pretty much a ban on the guest workers having family here, combined with an end to birthright citizenship for children born to illegals (or guest workers) is a winnable platform at either the primary or general election, IMHO.
tea party wing will sink a bill with any robust guest worker program
mainstream republican will sink a bill with any teeth to enforcement.
Immigration reform is going nowhere with a GOP led congress.

I don't think so. I don't know any one against guest workers. Its amnesty without border control that most TP and conservatives are strongly against.
"mainstream republican will sink a bill with any teeth to enforcement."
Only if they wish to lose more conservative votes.
"Immigration reform is going nowhere with a GOP led congress."
BHO has rolled the bones going into 2016 and it will be interesting to see the response from the republication party.

Approximately 10% of the House are members of the Tea Party caucus. Many have openly stated they will support reform including a guest worker program if we secure the border first.
The two sides aren't that far apart. From the GOP perspective its a matter of trusting the chief executive not to pick and choose what parts of the bill to enforce and which to ignore.

Well the Texas TP ditched it over the summer

This implies the GOP is unchanging and unyielding. The changes from 2012 to 2014, while I do not think they ever got a comprehensive national strategy for 2014 - they didn't need to - "Not Obama. ACA bad." Seems to have been enough.
However, I hear similar plans from both Rand Paul and Marco Rubio. Lets see what passes and there is little question that Obama vetoes anything they send, other than a bill closely parallelling what he's just signed, IMHO.

Exactly. I believe any hard line the republicans take has its genesis in obama's proven and demonstrated duplicity.
How can anyone in the opposing party trust this man?
