they are great cars. even if you abuse them they hold up. The issue is some mechanics don't want to work on them. Like a Volvo or BMW everything is a little over engineered. A suburau seems more German than Japanese in it's construction.
I know you can buy subaru's here and then drive them to colorado then sell it for a premium then get a 2wd Truck there and come back with it and flip it.
It's how my buddy affords his three times a year trips to CO.

Subaru is pretty solid. Their interiors are not so plush but they are tough as hell as well.
