I have no idea honestly how being in the box helps Cameron with his playcalling

Nearly 100% of non-HC offensive coordinators, NFL and college, call the game from the box. Unfortunately, there is no QB coach, as that is Cam's quandry - a QB coach would be on the sidelines. They've put Brad Kragthorpe in that role the past 2 years as a player/coach.

I think they have to see the alignment and that is just much tougher from the sideline. They do talk on the headset, but there is no face-to-face contact, for sure. Ensminger is on the sideline, as is Miles, but I don't think the OC is going to call the game from the sideline so he can talk to the QB in person between series.

Again, while I realize talk through headsets periodically, this isn't the NFL and it is significantly easier when the coach is there talking to you.

I harken back to the 2011 OL, albeit a different position. Having Wilkerson as an on the field coach for the OL really helped when Studs was in the booth. In 2012, we saw a lot of struggles on the OL without Wilkerson there.

Same goes for Lee improving that year with Kragthorpe able to focus on coaching him up during games.

In the end, we have a useless TE coach that does literally nothing but cash his pay checks, but our QBs rarely get face time outside of the locker room once a game starts.

That's a huge issue and it doesn't surprise me that we blow timeouts because of poor play communication. I could care less if Cameron can see the field if he can't get the call in until 10 seconds left on the play clock.

Another thing is that in the pros, the QBs have receivers in their helmets to receive the calls, which is significantly different from college football.

I know it's important to see what the defense is doing and all but I think it would be much better if Cameron was on the sideline calling plays and coaching QBs and just let someone who is a defensive guru talk to Cam over the headset telling him what the other teams defense is doing. Hell, Chavis is up in the box. I'm sure he would already know more than anyone what the other teams approach on defense is.

We need Cam on the sideline being hands on with these guys coaching them up!

WR coach Henry needs to pick up TE's and let former LSU QB Steve Ensminger assist CCC with QB's and coach them down on the sidelines. This would be an improvement over the current situation of having no QB coach down there.
