They will have as many unranked finishes as top 10 finishes in the last 7 seasons.

I'll admit it's not where I thought the program was going after 2007.

U should go back and relook at what has transpired since 07 in the SEC. I think LSU looks pretty good, dont u.

Depends on what your expectations are. I thought LSU was a easily a legit top 10 program after 2007. 2 titles in 5 years and the first program to win 2 BCS titles. They were arguably a top 5 program.

The results since then haven't borne that out. 2 top 10 finishes in 7 years and staring down the barrel of 2 unranked seasons as well.

You may be fine with that. Each individual has his own definition of success.

So that's the new theme? It's okay that we no longer win anything meaningful or go to major bowls because the division is just too hard?

And no, we don't look pretty good.

Well that escalated quickly.

I think we should have a serious discussion about realistic expectations for the program. After the decade from '01 to '10, LSU is not the same program and may want to revise what is "success".

Unless LSU is in top 4 I could care less if they are 15th or 30th, makes no difference.

This is the way I see it.

You're in a recruiting hot bed. You have extremely deep pockets to hire pretty much anyone out there. What should we expect? Mediocrity? Our situation is pretty much on par with Texas. We have the same expectations, same recruiting landscape, why shouldn't we expect championships rather than scrapping at finishing in the top 25 - especially with how we've been recruiting.

It's hard to reason that we should redefine what we see as success when you see what success is with other programs.

National perception, bowl game/matchup, media exposure, etc.

These all affect recruiting. It makes a difference.

Personally, I think that is a terrible attitude. We have to keep fighting, improving facilities, increasing the recruiting budget and staff, etc. IMO, the goal of the LSU football program should be to be a Top 10 program nationally.

This is flawed. Most of those years a loss came to the bcs title winner. We usually would beat majority of teams in the top 10. Look at 2012 for example. Were there really 13 teams better than LSU? i could easily say without one suspended player we could have won the title. But it wasnt just that, we had 22 scholarship players out for the UF game that we lost, without the oline in shambles we win. Hell we would have beat ND, we did beat tamu, could have beat usc, fsu, kstate, ohio state. Louiville looked good, uga was good, bama was good oregon was good and we lost to clemson.

2013 again were there really 13 teams better than us? Baylor? osu? UCF? Clemson? Mizzou? we destroyed auburn.
