Does anyone else feel like tOSU is in the best spot of the teams outside the 4?

Ohio State has been impressive as of late and that has moved them ahead of Baylor in the rankings. If They continue winning and get a signature win over Wisconsin they have no worry that Baylor will pass them because Baylor would only add on signature win (Kansas State) on the same date. Ohio State can use their signature win to jump TCU who only has a decent but certainly not impressive Texas team left.
If tOSU wins out their resume as far as wins go (their loss is horrible) as well as the eye test will be at least an even comparison with the Big 12 teams. This would give the committee an easy out of the TCU-Baylor dilemma if either Alabama or MSU were to lose on Rivalry week and the other win the SEC. (Obviously bouth losing creates a different much more complicated scenario.) Of course Oregon or FSU could also drop a game but that is much less likely.
If the top 4 win out it seems to be pretty clear right now that they would be in. MSU would play another marquee game against Ole Miss and wouldn't be passed by a team behind them just getting another marquee win.
That said, if you have to be one of the three on the outside, I think you clearly want to be tOSU.
Thoughts?

Of the 5-7 teams, yeah I think I agree.
Baylor should jump TCU, and TCU plays a pretty junk schedule going out but they could lose to Texas who has a pretty strong D.
I'm not sure it matters, I think tOSU could lose the Wisconsin in Indy.

What the frick is that shite?
Is that better or worse than Shreveport?
What about Birmingham?
Nashville?
Memphis?
Tell me more about this Belk Bowl and its place in the bottom tier of the SEC bowl selection. Its been quite some time since I've had to worry about such things.

Texas has been on a roll the last few weeks. the only way I see TCU getting in is if they go to Austin and whoop UT by 3 or 4 scores. Don't underestimate the effect of playing on Thanksgiving night when everyone is watching

tOSU is good for one more loss so it wint really matter in the end

I think Mississippi State should be out of the top 4 and put either Baylor or Ohio State at 4.

Eh. Comparable wins and MSU's loss is miles ahead of Baylor and tOSU. The committee seems to be less concerned about losses than pollsters have in the past, but when you have 3 teams with fairly even resumes, and one lost to #1 by 5 on the road while the other 2 lost to unranked teams, you kind of have to take the one who lost to #1.

I understand the committee's decision, but the fact is Mississippi State has regressed since their bye week after the Auburn game.

If that really is that much of the case this won't be an issue because MSU will lose in Oxford.

I really dont see how they are in a better position than even a team like TCU
TCU
better loss - one check
Beaten Minnesota more convincingly - another check
Ohio State
conference title - one check
Top 25 wins: TCU: Oklahoma, Kan St, Ohio State: Wisconsin, Michigan St so toss up
so if we are being totally unbiased here, which we should be, TCU has a legitimate argument to be ahead of them.

my father is a TCU former athlete, I grew up in Arlington. I'm inherently biased and I truly believe the only way they get in is to take UT to the woodshed on national tv. the closer we get, the louder the head to head arguments will get. I'm not sure the voices pointing to Baylor's OOC schedule will be loud enough

Minnesota was in the snow in 15 degree weather on the road.
TCU got them in Texas in September.
They don't get a +1 for that.

Sure, that can be argued, just as it can be argued the other way by TCU backers. So problem #1.
So lets throw that Minnesota game out because transitive property is garbage anyways... and we can compare the two resumes now- still nearly identical..yes?
Which is why we can not say "Ohio State is in the best spot" - since Im not even sure theyre in a better spot than TCU.

Ohio State also had a 31-14 lead in the 4th quarter and dominated the stat line more than that would indicate.

Well we are only talking about teams outside the top 5, so if all things are pretty equal and Ohio State wins it's conference outright with an extra game vs a top 12ish team, then they get the edge right?

They would both still have two victories over the top 25 when its all said and done. (=)
But youre right, Ohio State would have the conference title (+) which probably weighs more than TCU who would having the better loss (+). That is what I would argue, but I could easily see someone arguing the opposite.
The difference is potentially so small, someone is going to get fricked

I think the fact that they got out classed by VaTech is something they can't escape

to be fair they had a chance to tie late in the 4th Qtr and then threw a pick 6...but no one is going to pay attention to the details
Its all about final score.

And Michael Brewer was 23/36 for 2 TDs and 2 INTs.
Ezekiel Elliot only had 32 yards on 8 carries.
Barrett rushed 24 times for 70 yards.
I think the didn't want to really throw the ball and we couldn't protect anyway.
Watching the game, the difference was Ohio State skill players weren't making plays and Virginia Tech's WRs were catching everything that mattered. They were above 50% of 3rd downs. It made all the difference.
