Could you point to where this was stated in the article? I can't find it.

Blood money. Which if you didn't know, is a common thing in the middle east.

That doesn't explain why this guy started shooting though.

Oh, shooter's crazy. Hope he isn't a danger to other lost drivers.

I'm sorry but if you shoot my son there's not enough gold in the Klondike to keep me from putting 2 in your chest and 1 in your head. Yeah I'd live my last days in prison but there would be a reckoning for what you did to my son.

Ya I saw that but I still don't think I could say I was ok with the sentencing. I don't know how much hush money it would take for me to be quiet if someone shot my sister in the head but I can guarantee you it would be way more than that dude had.

I agree. I find it hard to believe that someone just opened their back door and came out shooting.

Sounds like they are trading one kid for another and figure if the guy goes to jail they won't get their money and will be out two kids instead of one.

Maybe? Hopefully they don't want him to go to jail so they can shoot him in the head!

He makes a good point though. So you retaliate. Then someone retaliates against you...and so on. Hatfields and McCoys.

But I understand where you are coming from too.

From what I understand, it's a part of the culture in the Middle East that contributes to making that place so volatile. Families and clans hold grudges.

Hell, what if their 16 yr old grand kid had just got their first car and was all excited to go show it to grandpa?

Hopefully, the family would know the crazy part.

Sounds like the old guy bought his way out of prison.

I get where you're coming from with the original comment but...

The "you don't have kids so you could never possibly know what it's like to truly care for another person or have a valid opinion on the matter" position is a cop out. It assumes that there are no different perspectives or valid ways to view a situation, even if the other person does have kids. It's the I'm inherently right, and you are wrong. I don't have to support my point or use reasoning argument.

Sorry, that position just annoys me, and it is someting of a pet peeve.
