That is simply false.
They were the 2 seed and absolutely considered contenders that year. They were on the cover of sports illustrated during the playoffs.
The 09 Rockets were the 5 seed and went just as far as the Hornets did...the 2nd round and a 7 game series.
Try to be intellectually honest for once in your troll life.

They were the 2 seed who finished 1 game ahead of the 6 seed. I'll concede that they were contenders if all of the team that finished within 1 game of them in the season were. Of course that makes Houston and Phoenix contenders too which def won't fit your narrative even though PHO was hands down the preseason pick to win the West that year.
