Is that the same as a german short hair pointer?

If so, my brother had one and it was a mean bastard.

I own two GSP's. One male and one female. They are the best dogs I've ever had. Their intelligence level is unreal. Incredibly loyal and great with people and kids. My female is the best bird dog I've ever owned. I take her with me every time I go backpacking. This breed is built for an outdoor lifestyle. The longer the trip/trail, the more she seems to love it. That being said, they aren't for everyone. They're HIGH energy. They can be stubborn and it takes regular training or they will try and dominate you. They are legit escape artists. I've watched my female clear a six foot fence like it wasn't even there. All in all, I would recommend GSP/GWP to anyone who lives a very active lifestyle. To me, they're the best combo of hunting/outdoor/family dog money can buy.

I have a 6 year old GSP, and my God I love this dog. We have been researching the GWP and will likely get one soon. Our GSP is loyal, loving, smart as a whip, and not really dominant at all, but not a wimp either. He is friendly with everyone, including other dogs, but will mind his own business. He loves attention from people, anyone really, and doesn't seem to be concerned with other dogs if other people are around. The only problem is he will jail-break any opportunity he gets, and run like the wind. 3-4 times this year he has lit out when a door or gate slipped open, but we just get a call about 20 minutes later when he gets thirsty and walks up to some stranger.

Great dog. And the Wirehaired Pointer might even have a more distinguished look.

Also, ours is considered large and is only 65lbs.

I have a GSP. Smart dog, but stubborn as hell.

Yes I have one she is a GWP by genetics but is a DD by breeding & testing LINK hunt fish bike ride kayak ride in the car you name it but socializing any dog is key. Hunt anything you want they will know what to do. Great in the house & around others family very aloof around other dogs they won't start a fights normally but they have no problem finishing them and they will put up with a lot before they are pushed into an altercation. That is not an issue I would worry about.
Mine killed a coyote in the field next to the cabelas in omaha a few years ago and brought it Back to me we were not hunting Iwas messing around with the truck and she was running around to piss and ran into this mangy yote. They will hunt fur game also with you so if you want to rabbit fox or squirrel hunt not a problem. Hell mine she will stand in a 40 degree stream hanging out while I flyfish.

They come in brown braunschimmel or black schwarschimmel

They don't shed I have had mine in single didgets duck goose hunting phesant & quail hunting. She went to South Dakota grouse phesant hunting at 10 mis old no problem at all.
They are the jeeps of the hunting dog world.
Had a neighbor shot a deer lost it I was out of town told him go get the dog she will find it he didn't feel comfortable taking my dog I got home the next evening took her out found the deer in few min meat was fine.
Get a DD VS GWP The breeders are very serious about protecting the breed and testing & not selling dogs to the wrong folks if you do not have a hunting license and you want to keep the dog outside get a GWP because the DD Breeders won't sell you a pup. These guys are an odd bunch their goal is to protect the breed and once you get one and live and hunt with one hu will know why.
