Just a few rebuttal points:

1. My TV has been telling me since Tuesday that the people under 30 who swept Obama into office (twice) did NOT come out to vote in the midterms. If you have a problem with that, take it up with NBC, CBS, Fox, etc .

2. I am years away from being eligible for Social Security. I am not even factoring it into my retirement plans, because I do not believe it will be there. I generally dislike old peoples' stance on SS, and I plan to send my AARP card back when I turn 50.

3. Millenials are very smart, no doubt. But they don't have any life experience of note, thus they should not continually tell us how smart they are. Idealism is great, but it tends to get replaced by reality over time. I'm worried about whether this generation will know reality when they see it.

One can only hope for a continual downturn in voting participation.

Doesn't matter. Every new generation thinks the older folks are screwing them over, until they get older and realize it's the younger bastards who are the blood sucking leaches. Nothing ever changes.

1). Many were not old enough to vote in 2008. 2012, sure. Voter turnout was also lower with Latinos and AAs this year. I voted, and so did many other of friends in college but, there is no doubt that we do not turn out regularly which is why we are generally ignored in politics. As much as you and I dislike Obama he had an ability to connect with groups who historically don't vote and targeted them. It worked for him.
2). We agree on this. I will more than likely not even have the option though.
3). Y'all were once young and dumb as well. People in your generation have made mistakes and so will those of this one. But to label us the worst generation as we are getting out of college seems a little premature. I think(and hope) the results of the past election will at least get us on the right track.
