I pretty much agree with you verbatim. Will post more after the weekend about it. It's a tough film to analyze right away because it's so much to handle. But my initial judgments were it was very very good, but not really close to being a masterpiece. I don't think it even touches 2001, but it was cool to see all of Nolan's nods to that film. It really is a wonderful experience and a visually stunning movie though.
I'd give it around a 7/10 also. Inception was much better.

Great reviews thus far.
But remember 2001 wasn't acclaimed initially. So I guess that first impressions of 2001 would say it didn't touch 2001.
