Making a move soon and I don't think we are going to get cable at the new place possibly. We never watch live TV. Always just watch DVR'd stuff. With Hulu and Netflix, will I basically just be missing out on sporting events, or is there a lot of television programming that doesn't make it on Hulu. I'm not familiar at all. We do watch a good bit of prime time sitcoms and such. Is that all available, just not live?

Sports is about the only thing you will miss out on.
If you have a buddy willing to share his cable/satellite account info, you can use that with the WatchEspn app to watch most ESPN items.
With a HD antennae, you can get the NFL games on the big 3.

CBS has always been a bit of a holdout and they are starting a new streaming service, so I'm not sure if you can get their shows through Hulu, but between Hulu and NetFlix the bulk of what you'll be missing is live/local news and sports. Get a digital antenna and you can pick up the local stuff and will only be missing the ESPN/TNT sports.
One thing to make note of with Hulu is they typically only go about 4-6 weeks back, so if you want to pick up something later in the season you can't. You might consider some software like PlayOn/PlayLater which will let you DVR Hulu. LINK /
