No offense, but that "integrity of shield" stuff is crap.
It's a marketing tool, a symbol. It's not something earned in battle or a representation of a great honor.
Payton and Goodell both take themselves way too seriously.
It is BS about how the Saints were scheduled this year. It's pretty obvious somebody had a petty score to settle.

From the NFL press release describing the Bountygate punishments:
"The Saints and the individuals disciplined today are expected to participate in efforts led by the league office to develop programs that will instruct players and coaches at all levels of the game on the need for respect for the game and those who participate in it, on principles of fair play, safety and sportsmanship, and to ensure that bounties will not be part of football at any level."* (my italics)
Goodell is an empty suit elevated beyond his competence level.
