Agreed. On the few times my SO has had to DVR a game, he goes into a media blackout. Announcing the score is worse IMO.
Weddings are only important to the people getting married and maybe their family and close friends anyway. The rest is just a show. Nobody cares.

I don't go to many LSU games cause they fall during hunting season but I'll use any excuse I can find not to go to a wedding unless it's a good friend

I really didn't care until I read this:
Yeah, beating the #3 team in the country does us no favors. I hope no one shows up to the wedding.

If LSU wins or loses this game, it will not put them any higher up for a better bowl game, that's just the facts

Your honesty is always so nice in these threads.

Say what?
Her wedding will be important TO HER, but I assure you it's far less important to most everyone else in attendance. To everyone else, it's just a party. Brides don;t seem to comprehend that. Once you get married and you realize it was just a day, it looks far less important.
BEING married is, getting married is not.
The irony is that she seems to think guests are being selfish picking the game over her party, and yet she selfishly put everyone in the position ot have to choose by placing her wedding at a time of year where choices like that have to be made.

lolz that some of you guys think the New Orleans area is made up of only LSU fans. You'd be amazed at the amount of the people that will be at that wedding regardless of a game.
Lol at you for thinking her guest list contains only new Orleans area folks. I bet it's a list filled with Louisiana folks who obviously give a shite about the game. Her having to rant on Facebook shows just how many ppl must've backed out already.

Yup. And many chose not to. But shes the one calling them out on Facebook after denying television at the wedding. What a bitch.
I do agree her rant is uncalled for. Just realize you might have less guests if you have a fall wedding and have the game on if able to at your reception.

I got married on the TSIO, pissed off a lot of my wife's Tennessee family. We all laughed at them for getting so mad about it. Can't remember who LSU played that weekend but I think it was a cupcake, so my family didn't give a shite.
Both me and my wife's favorite season is fall and we love the mountains in the fall and had a nice small outside ceremony with all the fall colors. As far as family not attending, that didn't really concern us since we had a small wedding and didn't invite many people anyway.

I got married on the same day as LSU/Ala back in 1991. But it was 1991.

What a dumb frick. Went to LSU and still thought a wedding was a good idea that time of year.
This.
I don't buy the "that's the only date that the church/photog/reception hall could all be booked" line -- you can't plan your wedding for December? Or any other one of the 9 months that aren't during the college football regular season? The fact that she feels the need to tell everyone what big fans she and her fiance are tells me they're probably not big fans.
My wife and I got engaged in April (a few years ago), so naturally our wedding was going to be around six to eight months later. Being a huge Hog fan, she kept the football schedule at the forefront of our minds when trying to pick a date and plan stuff out -- we ended up getting married the weekend before Christmas.

Im not immature and the only weddings that matter to me are a handful of friends and close family. Everyone elses is an optional reason for me to get drunk on your nickel.

I bet the Priest, hall employees, and photographer were hoping it would stay that way to so they could enjoy the game.

Fair enough…but is it her right to write a pissy blog to berate and belittle those who choose to attend or watch the game instead of go to her wedding?
"This game happens every year, we are only getting married once" is a very selfish statement, in my opinion.
Well ya know what? I only LIVE once and if I choose to follow or attend a football game instead of wasting 4 hours of my life at yet another wedding, then don't make me feel bad about it.
I don't know you or the bride, but the hypocrisy in your post is pretty thick.

So, in your opinion, wanting to get drunk and be entertained for 4 hours by an event that happens every year instead of attending one the most important days in a friend's life is NOT selfish?
shite is getting sad these days. I was in Savannah last year watching the GA-FL game in a bar, and 4 members of a bridal party were laughing about how they were skipping the wedding to watch the game. THAT is fricking selfish.
There is more to life than you and your entertainment. Was planning a wedding during LSU-Bama the best move? I wouldn't have done it. But if a friend invites you to their wedding, you suck it up and go make their day a special one. Don't be a fricking baby.
Leonard Fournette is not going to come visit you in the hospital if you get cancer.
Disclaimer: All of this is said under the pretense that you are decently close to the person getting married. If we're talking about the son of your uncle's friend who doesn't even know who you are, I don't really care what you do.

In bigger cities it doesn't work that way. In New Orleans you need to schedule at least a year before hand, and the schedule isn't available. Unless you just don't care about your venues and vendors.
